Scott Adams clearly explains how to know when someone, it could be yourself or another person, is experiencing cognitive dissonance. When a new fact or phenomenon presents itself and it goes against a fundamental belief, one you don’t want to question or part with, your mind uses all kinds of tricks to deflect it so you can remain in your comfort zone.
